Friends of MainStreet Piqua, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Piqua, Ohio. The mission of the organization is to promote economic development and job growth in the Piqua community by enhancing the downtown area. The organization works to improve the appearance, safety and vitality of the downtown area by sponsoring events and activities, advocating for downtown businesses, and providing resources and support to those businesses.

The organization was founded in 1992 and is composed of business owners, local citizens, and city officials. They are committed to making Piqua a great place to shop, live, work, and play. They strive to provide a safe, vibrant, and attractive downtown environment that is a destination for locals and visitors alike.

Friends of MainStreet Piqua, Inc. has been responsible for many projects to improve the downtown area. These projects include the installation of public art, landscaping, and street furniture, as well as the beautification of vacant and neglected properties. They have also organized events such as the Downtown Piqua Art Walk and the Piqua Summer Concert Series.

The organization has received numerous awards from the Ohio Downtown Development Association, the Ohio Historic Preservation Office, and the Ohio Department of Development. The organization is funded through donations, grants, and fundraising events. Friends of MainStreet Piqua, Inc. is a committed and active organization that is dedicated to making Piqua a great place to live, work, and play.

Founded in 1921 as the Weaver Aircraft Company and located in Loraine, Ohio, the WACO Aircraft Company relocated to Troy in March 1923. It was the first aircraft company to use assembly line production and shock strut landing gear. Leading all civilian aircraft production at a ration of two to one from 1927-1929, the company had sales distributors in 24 countries worldwide. The United States government became the prime contractor of WACO Aircraft Company's troop/cargo gliders (CG-4A) used extensively during World War II. The company also managed the U.S. Army's glider program for 15 companies that produced gliders nationwide. The last WACO, model W 'Aristocraft' was built in Troy in June 1947."
