Alta Loma SD Blue Bird "Q-Bus" RE #1 24-09-01 I saw the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/people/60299469@N08">saftlinerc2</a> video about this specific bus, and I knew I had to get some shots of this one-off prototype at the Alta Loma School District lot. While most refer to it as the TC1000 RE, I think the school Q-bus name fits better.

According to the comments of a Blue Bird representative I found on an earlier picture of this bus, this was apparently a test mule for the D3.

Buffum's Redux I wasn't satisfied with the last picture I took of the former Buffum's store, so I went back.

If you saw the other Norms picture from the album or just in my collection overall, after a very long day, we went back to this relatively new Norms in Rialto and ended on a high note with a great supper. While the interior is a bit more sedate than what one might expect for a place replicating mid-20th century design, one could not ask for a better modern salute to Googie architecture than this.

One Small Step for a Kiwi, One Giant Leap for Googie Mount Vernon Avenue at 6th Street, San Bernardino, California U.S.A. - June 13, 2024

After so many years of talking about Jordan of The House of Googie coming to visit America -- a trip that should have happened in 2020 but was delayed by the pandemic -- I thought long and hard about what to do when I fist got him to any part of old Route 66. While some new signs gave away part of the surprise, it was still fun to park across the way from the historic Mitla Cafe and get a picture of Jordan's first step onto the Mother Road as the sign that he had finally made it to Route 66.

While Wolfe's Market is now more of an upscale sandwich shop and deli, the new owners wisely kept this small but beloved neon sign that adds its own little bit of flavor to old Route 66.
