I found a pretty patch of these on the roadside bordering Killdeer Plains Wildlife Area in central Ohio. I was enchanted by its delicate color and the form of its buds.

The Bucyrus Historical Society was founded in 1976 and is dedicated to preserving the history of Bucyrus and Crawford County, Ohio. It is located in the heart of downtown Bucyrus and is housed in the restored 1869 Victorian-style home of early Bucyrus Mayor, Thomas B. Young. The Society seeks to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the area through educational programs, exhibits, special events, and publications.

The Society’s museum features a variety of permanent and temporary exhibits that showcase the history of Bucyrus and Crawford County. Exhibits include local Native American artifacts, the history of the local coal mining industry, and a display of historic military uniforms and equipment. The museum also offers an extensive library of books, photographs, and other artifacts related to Bucyrus and Crawford County history.

The Society also works to preserve and restore local landmarks. The Society has restored the 1908 Loudonville Opera House, the 1912 Trinity United Methodist Church, and the 1888 iron bridge that crosses the Sandusky River. The Society also maintains a variety of historic sites and structures, such as the General William Sherman Monument, the Bucyrus Public Library, and the Bucyrus City Hall.

The Society offers a variety of educational programs, including guided tours, field trips, and special events. The Society also produces publications, including a quarterly newsletter, the Bucyrus Historical Bulletin, and an annual history magazine, the Bucyrus Historical Journal.
