Castroville / Japanese Schoolhouse internment – desert prison (# 0020) Description of life at the internment camp in Poston, AZ, where the Castroville Japanese were sent from the Salianas Rodeo Grounds detention center. Life for the next three years was in the long rows of barracks pictured here, in a desolate and remote spot not far from the Colorado River. The local tribes in Arizona are working through the <u><a href="https://www.postonpreservation.org" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Poston Community Alliance</a></u> to honor the history of the Japanese and their work with the tribes during their internment.
