The American Steam Railroad Preservation Association Inc. (ASRPA) in Groveport, Ohio is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of steam railroad history. Founded in 1967, the mission of the ASRPA is to preserve and promote the heritage of America’s steam locomotives. The ASRPA works to acquire, restore, and display historic steam locomotives and their related equipment, as well as promote public education and understanding of steam railroad history.
The ASRPA owns and operates the Groveport Railroad Museum. The museum is home to a collection of historic steam locomotives, equipment, and artifacts. The collection includes locomotives from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, among others. The museum also features a variety of interactive displays and hands-on activities for visitors, as well as special events throughout the year.
The ASRPA is also actively involved in the preservation and interpretation of steam railroad history. The organization often participates in regional steam locomotive excursions, and hosts special events and educational programs. The ASRPA also provides educational programs for schools and organizations, in addition to providing educational resources for students and teachers.
The ASRPA is a volunteer-driven organization, and relies on the support of members and volunteers to help preserve and promote America’s steam railroad heritage. The ASRPA is committed to providing an educational, enjoyable, and informative experience for all who visit the museum or participate in its programs.
