The Springfield Preservation Alliance (SPA) is a non-profit organization located in Springfield, Ohio. Founded in 1999, the mission of the SPA is to "preserve the historic architectural and cultural heritage of Springfield." It works to protect and promote the city's historic neighborhoods, buildings, and sites, and to create an environment where historic preservation is vital to the community's growth and development.

The SPA works to preserve Springfield's historic structures by advocating for their protection and encouraging their adaptive reuse. It works to educate the public about the city's history, as well as the importance of preserving the city's cultural and architectural heritage. The SPA also serves as a comprehensive resource for information regarding the city's preservation efforts.

The SPA is organized into several committees, including the Preservation Advocacy Committee, which works to ensure the protection of Springfield's historic structures; the Education Committee, which works to promote public education about the city's history and preservation efforts; and the Fundraising Committee, which works to raise funds for the SPA's various projects.

The SPA also publishes a regular newsletter, holds regular educational programs, and hosts various events throughout the year, such as the annual Preservation Awards Banquet. With the help of its members, volunteers, and donors, the SPA is dedicated to preserving Springfield's historic structures and to providing educational opportunities for the residents of Springfield and beyond.

Total Solar Eclipse - April 8, 2024 Totality! Only the sun's corona is visible. Down here on the ground it appears like nighttime, and the temperature has cooled. One of us even put on a sweater due to the chill! This and the other pics were taken in Urbana, Ohio, at Freshwater Farms. Total Solar Eclipse - April 8, 2024 This pic was taken with a 300mm telephoto lens with three stacked ND filters. The three filters reduced light by 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 respectively, for a total of 1/512 light transmittance (0.195% of actual light enters the lens).

Even with these filters, the photo is over-exposed. The light entering is so strong it bounces inside the lens and produces artifacts - i.e. shadow images of the actual image. #TotalEclipse2024
