SHELBY HOUSE

Shelby House is located in Botkins, Ohio and is a historic two-story, brick-veneered home that was built in the early 20th century. The house was originally owned by the Shelby family and was built in a style of architecture known as Colonial Revival. It is a two-story structure with a rectangular plan and a symmetrical front façade. It has a low-pitched hip roof with a gable roof over the entrance and a small gable roof over the side porch. The entrance is framed by two columns and has a transom window above the door. The house has a brick foundation and brick veneer walls that are laid in a Flemish bond pattern. It has a two-bay façade with a central entrance and one-over-one double-hung windows. The windows have a single, decorative brick lintel. The house also features a one-story side porch with a gable roof and a two-story rear ell with a gable roof. The interior of the house has original woodwork including wainscoting, beaded board, and hardwood floors. There are five fireplaces with decorative mantels. The house also has a large attic and a full basement. The house is surrounded by a 1.8-acre lot with mature trees and landscaping. The Shelby House is a well-preserved example of Colonial Revival architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
