Slate Run Metro Park is located in Canal Winchester, Ohio and is part of the Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks. The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, and camping. The park is situated along the Big Walnut Creek and consists of 1,945 acres of woodlands, wetlands, meadows, and streams.

The park features a variety of trails that range from easy to moderate difficulty. The trails offer opportunities to view wildlife, such as deer, coyotes, songbirds, and even bald eagles. There are also educational programs offered throughout the year such as wildflower hikes and bird watching.

The park also features two campgrounds; the Family Campground and the Primitive Campground. The Family Campground consists of 19 campsites with electric hookups, while the Primitive Campground consists of 12 sites without electricity. Both campgrounds offer showers, restrooms, and dump stations.

The park is also a popular spot for fishing; anglers can find bluegill, catfish, carp, and bass in the Big Walnut Creek. There is also a boat ramp available, and kayaks, canoes, and pontoon boats are allowed.

In addition to the recreational activities, Slate Run Metro Park also offers programs for school groups and other organizations. Programs are offered on topics such as geology, nature, and history. The park also hosts special events throughout the year, such as guided hikes, nature walks, and canoeing trips.
