The Tonset Lutheran Church Historical Society is located in Lignite, North Dakota. It is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving the history of the Tonset Lutheran Church, which was established in 1904 by Norwegian settlers. The church served as a center of community life for the surrounding area for over 90 years, until it closed its doors in 1996 due to a declining congregation.

The society was established in 2004, on the 100th anniversary of the church's founding, to collect and preserve artifacts, documents, and photographs related to the church and the community it served. The society operates a museum in the former church building, which has been restored and maintained to reflect its original appearance. The museum features exhibits on the history of the church, the surrounding community, and the Norwegian immigrant experience.

The society also hosts events throughout the year, such as an annual Norwegian Lutefisk Supper, to raise funds for the museum and to promote awareness of the region's history. The society is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations to carry out its mission of preserving the history of the Tonset Lutheran Church and its community.
