The Museum of Small Craft Association (MSCA) in Beaufort, NC, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the maritime heritage of the coastal region of North Carolina. Established in 1986, the MSCA is housed in a historic building that was once part of the US Navy’s Marine Barracks in Beaufort. The museum houses artifacts, documents, photographs and other materials that chronicle the history of small craft and the maritime culture of the local area.

The MSCA offers a range of programs and activities to its members and visitors, including educational workshops and lectures, boatbuilding and sailing classes, and cruises on the historic small craft within its collection. Visitors can explore the museum’s collection of more than 400 small boats, which includes a variety of vessels from the early 19th century to the present day. The MSCA also showcases a number of special exhibits throughout the year, which focus on specific aspects of regional maritime history and traditions.

The MSCA also sponsors a range of events, including the annual “Boatbuilding Challenge”, which encourages local students to design, build and race small craft. In addition, the MSCA hosts a variety of festivals and celebrations throughout the year, including the Beaufort Music Festival and the Beaufort Water Festival.

The Museum of Small Craft Association is located at 200 East Main Street in Beaufort, NC. It is open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free, and donations are always welcome.
