The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Museum is a museum dedicated to the Charlotte Fire Department and its history. Located in the historic Fire Station No. 1 in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, the museum tells the story of the city's firefighting history, from the early days of volunteer fire brigades to the modern professional fire service. Visitors to the museum can explore the exhibits, which feature vintage firefighting equipment, photographs, and other artifacts that tell the story of the department's history. Visitors can also take a tour of the museum's restored fire engines, including the city's oldest, Engine No. 1, which dates back to 1903. The museum also offers educational programs for school groups and community organizations, as well as a variety of special events, including open houses, fire safety presentations, and fire truck rides. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
