The Historical Sites Society of Arcata, Incorporated (HSS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Arcata’s rich cultural heritage. Founded in 1995, the Society has been actively engaged in the preservation and interpretation of Arcata’s historic sites, buildings, and landmarks.

The Society organizes and participates in a wide variety of events and activities throughout the year, ranging from lectures and tours to educational programs, living history demonstrations, and special projects. It also works with local, regional, and state agencies to promote and protect Arcata’s cultural resources.

In addition to their work in Arcata, the Society also works to preserve and interpret important sites and structures in adjacent Humboldt County. The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep members informed of their activities, and also provides a variety of educational materials and resources to the public.

The Society is guided by a volunteer board of directors who are committed to preserving and promoting Arcata’s historic and cultural heritage. They are dedicated to preserving the unique character and identity of the city and its people, and to ensuring that Arcata’s past is remembered and shared with future generations.
