The Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC is a place of learning, discovery and exploration for visitors of all ages. The museum was established in an effort to preserve and share the history and culture of the Cherokee people.
The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibits. Among the permanent exhibits are the Cherokee House, an interactive exhibit that features a replica of an 18th century Cherokee house, and the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, which showcases traditional and contemporary Cherokee art, crafts and jewelry. The museum also offers interactive activities, such as painting with wild clay, playing traditional Cherokee games, and exploring a virtual Cherokee village.
The museum also offers guided tours and educational programs. These programs are designed to engage visitors in the history and culture of the Cherokee people.
