The Friends of Natural History Foundation (FNH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The organization was founded in 1992 by a small group of local citizens to support the educational, research, and conservation efforts of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

FNH is dedicated to connecting people of all ages to the natural world, inspiring a lifelong appreciation of the natural history of North Carolina and the Southeast. Through programs, projects, and partnerships, FNH promotes scientific literacy, environmental stewardship, and environmental sustainability.

The organization’s primary activities include providing grants, scholarships, and awards to support research and educational projects in the field of natural history; promoting collaborations with community, state, national, and international organizations; and increasing public access to the collections and other resources of the Museum. FNH also runs a variety of programs and workshops to engage the public in the natural sciences, such as field trips, lectures, and conservation projects.

In addition to its educational outreach, FNH also works to protect natural areas in the Triangle region and beyond, through land acquisition, conservation easements, and other land protection efforts. The organization also works to promote sustainable and ethical hunting and fishing practices through its Conservation and Hunting/Fishing Partnerships.

The Friends of Natural History Foundation is an important part of the Research Triangle Park community, promoting scientific literacy and environmental stewardship while preserving and protecting the natural history of North Carolina and the Southeast.
