Smith Cemetery Historic Preservation Association Inc., located in Charlotte, NC, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historic Smith Cemetery. Founded in 1997, the organization works to maintain the cemetery and educate the public about its significance.

The Smith Cemetery is the oldest public African-American cemetery in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, with burials dating back to the late 1800s. It is the final resting place of many prominent African-American citizens, including veterans of the Civil War and World War II, and several prominent business owners and educators.

The Smith Cemetery Historic Preservation Association Inc. is committed to preserving the cemetery’s legacy, and has worked to restore the grounds, repair headstones and monuments, and install a new fence around the cemetery. The organization also works to educate the public about the cemetery’s history and importance.
