The Old North State Chapter Inc National Railway Historical Society (ONSC NARHS) is a non-profit organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Founded in 1972, the group’s mission is to preserve and promote the history of the railroad industry in North Carolina. The organization is made up of railroad history enthusiasts, model railroaders, and railroad industry professionals.

The ONSC NARHS holds monthly meetings and hosts special events, such as excursions and rail fan trips. Members can also participate in railroad historical research, preservation projects, and educational programs. The organization also has a model railroad layout and a library of railroad books, magazines and other research materials.

The ONSC NARHS is a member of the National Railway Historical Society and the North Carolina Railroad Heritage Council. The organization works closely with the North Carolina Museum of History and the North Carolina Transportation Museum to preserve and promote the railroad heritage of North Carolina.

The ONSC NARHS hosts an annual Railfan Day at the New Hope Valley Railway in Bonsal, North Carolina. This event includes a variety of activities and a chance to ride the historic New Hope Valley Railway. The ONSC NARHS also participates in the National Railway Historical Society’s Railfan Weekend, which is held in different locations across the country. The organization also works with other organizations to promote railroad heritage in North Carolina.

I believe this to be the first image of a living specimen of this species, at least the first one that was widely accessible. I identified it based on Dillon and Dillon's guide.
