The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) is located in downtown Birmingham, AL and is dedicated to the study and understanding of human rights and civil rights issues. Founded in 1992, BCRI serves as a living memorial to the civil rights movement of the 1960s and is dedicated to preserving Birmingham’s unique history and educating the public about civil and human rights issues.

BCRI offers a variety of resources to the public, including a museum, library, and archive. The museum houses a variety of exhibits and artifacts, including photographs, documents, and other items related to the civil rights movement. The library contains a variety of primary and secondary sources for research, including rare books, periodicals, and other materials. The archive contains a variety of audio and video recordings and transcripts of civil rights related events and speeches.

In addition to its museum and library, BCRI also offers a variety of educational programs, including lectures, workshops, and symposia.
