SECOND WARD ALUMNI HOUSE

Second Ward Alumni House is a historic home located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was built in 1913 and is a two-story, Late Victorian-style frame dwelling. It was originally built by Dr. F.R. Harris, an African American physician, and is believed to be the first home in the ward to be owned by a black physician.

The house is an example of turn-of-the-century architecture and features an asymmetrical facade with a large front gable and a porch that wraps around the side. The interior of the home is divided into two stories, with a kitchen, parlor, dining room and bedroom on the first floor and two bedrooms on the second floor.

Second Ward Alumni House is significant to the local community as it is one of the few remaining homes from the ward's earliest days. It is a symbol of Charlotte's history and has a unique place in the city's African American heritage. It is a reminder of the accomplishments of local African Americans in the early 20th century and provides a connection to the past.

Second Ward Alumni House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a part of the Second Ward Historic District. It is owned by the Mecklenburg Alumni Association and is open to the public for tours. It is a popular tourist attraction and a testament to Charlotte's rich history.
