YMI Cultural Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Asheville, North Carolina. Founded in 1993, the mission of YMI is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for young people of color to develop their skills, confidence, and leadership potential. YMI is dedicated to fostering a sense of cultural pride, self-determination, and economic justice.

YMI provides a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of the Asheville community. These include a drop-in center, after school tutoring and mentoring, summer enrichment programs, entrepreneurship programs, job readiness and career exploration programs, arts and culture programs, and more.

One of their signature initiatives is the YMI Hip-Hop Academy, which provides music production and performance training, as well as life skills and civic engagement workshops. The YMI also hosts various cultural events and activities, such as concerts, art shows, and workshops.

YMI is committed to creating a safe space for young people to express themselves, share their stories, and grow as individuals. Through their efforts, YMI works to create a more equitable, just, and vibrant community in Asheville and beyond.

Temporary Passenger Walkway, Asheville Regional Airport, Asheville, NC Originally built in 1961, this terminal was heavily renovated in 1987-1992, 2003, and 2009, resulting in the present structure. The sprawling, predominately one-story building includes a four-story control tower, a concrete panel, ceramic tile, and stacked stone-clad exterior, canopies with stacked stone columns, and large windows facing the airfield. The terminal served the airport for 50 years, but by the 2020s, had become overcrowded due to a large increase in passenger volume during the early 21st Century. The building, as of 2023, is in the process of being replaced with a new terminal, with the 2003 concourse addition on the northwest side of the building having been entirely demolished, the jet bridges, added during the 2009 renovation, being removed, and portions of the terminal being closed off due to construction. A parking garage, added in 2017, is slated to remain, while a new, larger terminal, a more practical two-story concourse, and a new, freestanding air traffic control tower are constructed in phases alongside the airfield and on the present site of the terminal.
