The Cairo Historical Society is located in Cairo, New York, and is dedicated to preserving the history of the community. Founded in 1980, the Society is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the Town of Cairo, New York. It does this by collecting artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials related to Cairo’s history, as well as by providing educational programs, exhibits, and publications.

The Society operates the G. Stevens Hall Museum, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the center of Cairo, the museum contains artifacts, photographs, documents, and other items illustrating the history of the town. The museum also offers educational programs, lectures, and special events.

The Cairo Historic District, established in 1980, is also managed by the Cairo Historical Society. The district contains many buildings from the 1800s, including churches, schools, and homes, which have been preserved in their original state.

The Society also offers other services, such as genealogical research and records, tours, lectures, and other events. The Cairo Historical Society is open to the public and welcomes members, volunteers, and visitors.
