Friends of the Edward M Cotter is a not-for-profit organization based in Buffalo, NY. Established in 2005, the organization is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and maintenance of the only remaining active Buffalo Fireboat, the Edward M. Cotter. The Edward M. Cotter was built in 1900 and launched in 1901. It is the oldest active fireboat in the world and the last of its kind. The boat has seen a tremendous amount of service in its long life, including responding to the burning of the original Jones Beach pier in 1926, the burning of the original Buffalo Naval Park in 1945, and the burning of the original Niagara Falls power generating station in 1956.

Friends of the Edward M Cotter work to keep the boat operational by providing funds for maintenance and repairs, as well as organizing volunteer activities such as painting and clean-up. The organization also works with the City of Buffalo to organize public events such as boat tours and volunteer days.
