Manhattan's Chinatown is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, bordering the Lower East Side to its east, Little Italy to its north, Civic Center to its south, and Tribeca to its west. With an estimated population of 90,000 to 100,000 people, Chinatown is home to the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere. Manhattan's Chinatown is also one of the oldest Chinese ethnic enclaves. The Manhattan Chinatown is one of nine Chinatown neighborhoods in New York City, as well as one of twelve in the New York metropolitan area, which contains the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, comprising an estimated 893,697 uniracial individuals as of 2017.

Vibrant Chinatown is a densely populated neighborhood that draws foodies and tourists to its many Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants for dumplings, pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, bubble tea shops, and markets selling everything from fresh and dried fish to herbs and spices. Locals hang out in leafy Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess and mahjong.Day 2

Beth Hamedrash Hagodal of New York Restoration Inc is a non-profit organization located in Brooklyn, NY. The organization's primary objective is to restore and preserve the historic Beth Hamedrash Hagadol Synagogue, which was built in 1850 and is considered one of the oldest synagogues in the United States.

The synagogue has a rich history and was a significant landmark in the Jewish community in Lower Manhattan for more than a century. It also served as a meeting place for various community organizations and was a hub for Jewish cultural and religious activities. However, in 2017, the synagogue suffered significant damage due to a fire, which destroyed the roof and the upper floors.

Beth Hamedrash Hagodal of New York Restoration Inc was formed to raise funds and oversee the restoration of the synagogue. The organization has received support from various sources, including the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, to carry out the restoration project.

The restoration project aims to preserve the historic significance of the synagogue while also making it a modern community and cultural center.
