The Dia Art Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 in New York City. Its mission is to foster the creation, presentation, and preservation of art of the highest quality. The foundation focuses on works of a large scale and long-term nature, either in the form of commissions or acquisitions. Dia is dedicated to supporting the research and presentation of contemporary art and ideas.

Dia’s activities are concentrated in the area of Dia’s permanent collection, which consists of works by some of the most important artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Dia’s collection includes works by artists including Carl Andre, Donald Judd, Joseph Beuys, Walter De Maria, Agnes Martin, Robert Smithson, and Dan Flavin. Dia also has a strong commitment to commissioning new work, and the foundation has worked with many artists over the years to produce site-specific installations.

The foundation also has an international presence, with sites in Beacon, New York; Bridgehampton, New York; and Berlin, Germany.
