The Alabama National Guard Historical Society (ANGHS) is an organization based in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. It is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the history of the Alabama National Guard. The organization was founded in 1999 with the mission of researching, collecting, and disseminating information on the history of the Alabama National Guard. Today, the ANGHS has grown to become a valuable resource for military historians, genealogists, educators, and anyone interested in the Alabama National Guard’s legacy.

The ANGHS is actively involved in the preservation of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other items that tell the story of the Alabama National Guard. They host regular events, such as conferences and workshops, to educate the public on the history of the National Guard. The Society also publishes the quarterly magazine The Alabama National Guard Historian. In addition, the ANGHS provides assistance and advice on researching the history of the Alabama National Guard and its units.

The ANGHS works closely with the Alabama National Guard, the Alabama Department of Military Affairs, and other historical organizations to promote and preserve the legacy of the Alabama National Guard. The Society is also a member of the National Guard Association of the United States. As a result of their commitment to preserving the heritage of the Alabama National Guard, the ANGHS has become a respected and valuable resource for those interested in learning more about the history of the National Guard.
