The Brooklyn City Streetcar Company was a transportation company that operated in Brooklyn, New York from 1863 to 1899. The company was founded by entrepreneur Charles M. Pratt, who was also one of the founders of the Pratt Institute. The company's streetcars initially ran on horse-drawn carriages, but later transitioned to electric power in 1890.

The streetcars were a popular mode of transportation for Brooklyn residents, providing a convenient and affordable way to travel around the city. The company's network of streetcar lines covered much of the borough, connecting residential areas with commercial districts and transportation hubs.

Despite its popularity, the Brooklyn City Streetcar Company faced competition from other transportation companies, including the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company. In 1899, the company was sold to the Brooklyn Heights Railroad Company, which continued to operate many of the same streetcar lines.

Today, the legacy of the Brooklyn City Streetcar Company lives on in the form of the Brooklyn Streetcar Museum, which preserves and exhibits historic streetcars from Brooklyn's past. The museum is located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn and offers visitors a glimpse into the city's rich transportation history.
