The Arcade Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Arcade, New York. It was founded in 2001 in order to preserve the local history and culture of the area. The Society's mission is to honor the heritage of Arcade by collecting and sharing historical information, artifacts, and photographs.

The Society's members volunteer their time and energy to help maintain its activities and programs, which include researching and cataloging local history, creating exhibits, and hosting a variety of educational events. The Society also works to promote the preservation of the area's historic buildings and sites.

The Society's collection includes documents, photographs, books, maps, artifacts, and other items relating to the history of Arcade. These items are available for research and educational purposes. The Society also has a library of books, documents, and other materials related to local history.

February 16, 2023: Rapids on Cazenovia Creek as seen from Quaker Road bridge, Town of Aurora, New York The waters of Cazenovia Creek tumble over a series of rapids as seen from the Quaker Road bridge just west of the village of East Aurora, New York.
February 19, 2023: Vidler's 5 & 10 store with street clock, Main Street, East Aurora, New York A winter afternoon scene outside the famous Vidler's 5 and 10 store in East Aurora, New York. Sprawling across four adjacent storefronts lining the north side of Main Street between Church and Pine Streets in the village center, Vidler's traces its history back to June 1930, when namesake founder Robert S. Vidler opened the so-called "Fair 5¢ to $1.00 Store", offering Depression-wary locals a modest range of bargain-priced merchandise in a 900-square-foot rented space. Vidler purchased the building outright in 1946, expanded into the neighboring storefronts gradually beginning in the 1960s, and in 1987 the store began its ascent to the status of kitschy tourist destination courtesy of a series of local television spots featuring "Bob and Ed", the second generation of the Vidler family to operate it. Today, aside from the dizzying range of gifts and knickknacks it sells to throngs of loyal visitors, Vidler's is known from coverage in <i>Business Week</i> and <i>Martha Stewart Living</i> magazines, and has been featured on the small screen in many of the made-for-TV Christmas movies that have famously filmed in East Aurora. The street clock seen at right, manufactured by the Verdin Company of Cincinnati, was unveiled in 2000 to celebrate Vidler's 70th anniversary in business.

For more than 20 years, the Roycroft Campus was a center of entrepreneurship, creativity and learning. It was a hub of activity with over five hundred working artisans and craftsmen and drew visitors from faraway places. In 1905 the Roycroft Inn was opened to accommodate visitors and artisans looking to experience this emerging community and style.

December 5, 2022: St. Matthias Episcopal Church, East Aurora, New York The distinguished Late Gothic Revival architecture of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in East Aurora, New York - a 1928 work of the local firm of Shelgren & Whitman - has recently earned it a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. September 27, 2022: Aurora Theatre, East Aurora, New York Among the last of a dying breed, the Aurora Theatre in East Aurora, New York is a small neighborhood single-screen movie house that was never closed or abandoned in the face of competition from suburban multiplexes, nor repurposed for other uses: it's been screening the same sort of first-run mainstream films since its opening day way back in 1925. Pennsylvania Railroad Whistle-Stop Depot along the Genesee River Many people know and love the Genesee Arch Railroad Bridge which stand in Portage NY. What some people may not realize is that there was once another railroad that ran underneath the bridge along the west bank of the picturesque Genesee River. Known as a "whistle-stop," trains would only stop here if requested and did not have a formal station.
