The Austerlitz Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Austerlitz, New York. The Society was founded in 1973 by a group of local residents interested in preserving the unique history of the area. The Society’s mission is to collect and preserve the history of the Austerlitz community, to promote educational programs, and to help foster an understanding and appreciation of the historical significance of the area.

The Society owns and operates two historic buildings, the 1790s Old Austerlitz Meeting House and the 1790s Old Austerlitz Store. The Meeting House is a perfect example of early New England Federal-style architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Store, which is also on the National Register, is one of the oldest general stores in the country. The Society offers guided tours of the buildings, which feature period furniture, artifacts, and displays. The tours provide insight into the early days of the Austerlitz community.

The Society also offers a variety of programs and events throughout the year. These include lectures, demonstrations, and workshops that focus on local history and tradition. The Society also maintains an extensive library collection of books and periodicals related to the history of Austerlitz.
