The Governors Residence Foundation of California (GRFC) is a non-profit organization located in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 2003, GRFC is dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic Governor’s Mansion of California, a National Historic Landmark. The Governor’s Mansion, located in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, is the official residence of the Governor of California and has been home to many of the state’s chief executives since its construction in 1903.
The mission of the GRFC is to preserve and promote the Governor’s Mansion as a symbol of California’s cultural and architectural heritage. To this end, the GRFC works to restore and maintain the Mansion, its grounds, and its surrounding facilities while also providing educational programming and opportunities for public enjoyment.
The GRFC is governed by a Board of Directors and guided by an Advisory Council. The Board of Directors is made up of California residents who are committed to the preservation and protection of the Mansion, and the Advisory Council is comprised of professional advisors, including architects, historic preservationists, and other experts in the field.
The GRFC hosts a variety of events at the Mansion throughout the year, including lectures, receptions, and historic tours. These events are designed to help the public appreciate the significance of the Mansion and its importance to California’s history. Additionally, the organization is actively involved in public outreach and education, including school and community programs.
The GRFC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Donors have the opportunity to become involved in the preservation and promotion of the Mansion by becoming members of the organization or by making financial contributions.
