The Hudson Valley Museum of Natural Resource and Industry (HVMNRI) is located in Stony Brook, New York. The museum was founded in 2004 and is dedicated to educating the public and providing a unique experience on the natural resources of the Hudson Valley.
The museum consists of four main exhibit areas including the Hudson Valley History Gallery, the Wildlife Gallery, the Interactive Natural Resource Gallery, and the Industrial Heritage Gallery. The Hudson Valley History Gallery features exhibits that chronicle the history of the Hudson Valley from the Lenape tribes to the early Dutch settlers to the industrialization of the area in the 19th century. The Wildlife Gallery features a variety of displays and interactive activities that highlight the various species of birds, mammals, fish, and reptiles found in the Hudson Valley. The Interactive Natural Resource Gallery offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the natural resources of the Hudson Valley and how they are used by local industries. The Industrial Heritage Gallery showcases artifacts and technology used in the manufacturing and industrial processes that took place in the Hudson Valley.
HVMNRI also offers educational programs, workshops, and field trips. Additionally, the museum hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, including lectures, film screenings, and art exhibitions.
