The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) is an international non-profit organization based in New York City that is dedicated to strengthening understanding and collaboration between Asia and the United States. It was founded in 1963, by John D. Rockefeller 3rd and other prominent Asian and American leaders to promote greater understanding of Asian cultures and to foster international exchange between artists, scholars, and professionals.
The ACC provides grants to support cultural exchange in the form of fellowships, residencies, and research projects. These grants are intended to support projects that promote the understanding and appreciation of Asian arts and culture. The ACC has supported the exchange of over 8,000 individuals and organizations in over 50 countries across Asia, Europe, North America, and Australasia.
The ACC also sponsors a variety of programs and events to foster greater awareness and appreciation of Asian culture. These include public lectures, exhibitions, and symposia, as well as private programs such as internships, workshops, and study tours.
The ACC is committed to developing relationships between Asia and the United States that are based on mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation.
