The Bagby Foundation for the Musical Arts, based in New York City, is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide opportunities for musicians to develop their skills and pursue their musical dreams. Established in 1995 by the Bagby family, the Foundation supports both emerging and established musicians by providing access to musical instruments, instruction, performance opportunities, and scholarships.
The Foundation is committed to creating a vibrant musical community in New York and beyond. To this end, the Foundation has established partnerships with local schools, libraries and community organizations to bring music to underserved youth and adults. The Foundation regularly hosts performances, educational workshops and special events in the city’s five boroughs and beyond.
The Bagby Foundation for the Musical Arts also provides financial assistance to aspiring musicians in the forms of scholarships and grants. Through these support programs, the Foundation has provided over $1 million in assistance to hundreds of talented musicians across the United States.
The Foundation also supports the development of new works of music through grants and commissions. These commissions have been performed by ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
