The Viet Heritage Society (VHS) of San Jose, California is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture, heritage, and history of the Vietnamese people. Founded in 2011, VHS works to connect San Jose’s vibrant and diverse Vietnamese community with the larger Bay Area and to build bridges between Vietnamese Americans, the broader Asian American community, and the greater San Jose area.

VHS’s activities range from hosting traditional festivals and events such as the annual Tet Festival and the Lunar New Year celebration to organizing educational presentations and youth mentoring programs. Additionally, VHS works to build bridges to the local Vietnamese community through its library and research center, which offers books, periodicals, and other resources related to Vietnamese history and culture.

The organization also provides community outreach services and workshops on topics such as health and wellness, financial literacy, and small business development. VHS also works to connect the local Vietnamese American community with the larger San Jose area, providing resources, support, and advice to local businesses and community organizations.

Prepare to be amazed We went to see Hanami, the cherry blossoms at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. It was an enchanting experience to walk at night below cherry trees in full blossom, and along bamboo trees. This is the main gate where you enter. I processed a realistic, a balanced, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. 20240330_134055e Happy bespectacled stink bugs (aka hedge nettle stink bugs, but i like the other name way more). The patch of hedge nettle exploded the past two years, and along with it the population of these insects did too.
