The American Geographical Society (AGS) is a non-profit organization based in New York City, NY and is devoted to the advancement of geography. Founded in 1851, the AGS is the oldest professional geographical society in the United States and is considered one of the leading geographical organizations in the world. Its mission is to inspire and enable a better understanding of the world and its diverse peoples through the power of geography.
