At the intersection of Craig and Federal Road, this was the first stop on the DL&W Railroad before it continues southeast through Leicester, Mt. Morris, Groveland, Sparta, and North Dansville. Ives House aka "Stonehurst", Medina, New York Erected in 1861 using the less common pink variety of the superior-quality sandstone that made Medina, New York famous, the sumptouous A. M. Ives House - otherwise known as Stonehurst - functions almost as a primer on the principles of Italian Villa-style residential architecture. October 6, 2021: First Presbyterian Church, Medina, New York Built in 1893 to a design by an unknown architect and now part of the Main Street Historic District, First Presbyterian Church in Medina, New York is an example of Romanesque Revival architecture. First Presbyterian Church, Medina, New York, October 2021 First Presbyterian Church, 522 Main Street, Medina, New York, October 2021. Built in 1893 to a design by an unknown architect and a contributing property to the NRHP-listed Main Street Historic District, this is an example of Romanesque Revival church architecture that's notable for its modest scale and light massing: raking arched corbel tables underlie the gables on both the main portion of the building and atop the squat tower, interspersed in the former case by simple stepped buttresses. Its windows are small in size and topped in all cases by round arches, with a quatrefoil pattern in the roundel at the top center of the façade. The village's second-oldest religious congregation, First Presbyterian was founded in 1829.
Caledonia Erie Depot, 1909 On what is now a small residential side street in the village of Caledonia, there once sat the Caledonia Erie Depot. Across the street the Ball Mill processed grain which passing freight trains would transport to Rochester and beyond. The railroad here transported products and people through Caledonia for over 100 years, only to close after the formation of Conrail in 1976. Photography by J.E. Avon Springs Hotel and Erie Depot, Pre-1875 The village of Avon became a bustling transportation hub in the summer of 1853. The rich mineral water of the Avon Springs brought crowds of people to the town's health spas, restaurants, and hotels. This stereoview shows a glimpse of the original Avon railroad depot with it's water tower and the neighboring Avon Springs Hotel. Sadly, all three structures were destroyed in a massive fire on December 13th, 1875 and only the depot was rebuilt.
