Eldridge St Project is a historic synagogue located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. Built in 1887, the synagogue served as a center of Jewish life in the area for decades until it fell into disrepair in the mid-20th century. In 1986, a group of community activists formed the Eldridge Street Project to save and restore the building.

After a 20-year restoration effort, the synagogue reopened to the public in 2007 as the Museum at Eldridge Street. The museum offers tours, exhibits, and programs that explore the history of Jewish immigration to the Lower East Side and the cultural heritage of the neighborhood.

The building itself is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture, with its soaring vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows, and decorative flourishes. The restoration project preserved many of the original features of the building while adding modern amenities such as climate control and accessibility.

Today, the Eldridge Street Project is a beloved cultural institution in New York City and a testament to the power of community activism and historic preservation.
