The Elisha Straight House is a historic house located in Hartford, New York. It was originally built in 1820 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is a two-story, Federal-style brick building with a gable roof and a central chimney. The front facade features a symmetrical design with a central entrance flanked by two windows on each side. The windows have twelve-over-twelve sashes and are adorned with wooden shutters. The house also has a small porch with a pediment supported by four square columns.
The interior of the Elisha Straight House features a central hall with a staircase leading to the second floor. The first floor has two parlors, a dining room, and a kitchen. The second floor has four bedrooms and a bathroom. The house retains many original features, including the fireplace mantels, moldings, and paneling.
Elisha Straight was a prominent citizen of Hartford in the early 19th century. He was a farmer, a merchant, and a town supervisor. The house remained in the Straight family until the mid-20th century. Today, the Elisha Straight House is owned by the town of Hartford and is used as a community center and meeting space. It is open to the public for tours and events.
