The Williamsburg Art and Historical Center (WAH Center) is situated in the vibrant and creative neighborhood of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. The center is a non-profit, community based organization which was established in 1995 and is dedicated to celebrating the rich history, culture, and art of the local neighborhood. The center offers a wide selection of exhibitions, educational programs, performances, and special events.
The WAH Center’s mission is to “inspire and enrich the community with the power of art and history”. The center houses a variety of public exhibitions and collections, including works from local and international artists, and a permanent collection of artifacts related to the history of Williamsburg.
The WAH Center also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops that cover topics such as photography, painting, and printmaking. The center’s annual Brooklyn International Film Festival (BIFF) draws in filmmakers and audiences from around the world. The BIFF seeks to honor independent film production, promote the development of new talent, and to increase public knowledge of Williamsburg history and culture.
The WAH Center is also home to a variety of community-based events and programs, such as the annual Williamsburg “Art & History” Fair, which celebrates the area’s rich history and culture. The center also offers art classes, performances, lectures, and special events throughout the year. The WAH Center is a hub of activity for Williamsburg’s vibrant art and cultural scene.
