The Wilson-Cobb History and Genealogy Research Library is a research facility located in Roswell, New Mexico. The library is dedicated to preserving the history and genealogy of southeastern New Mexico, and offers access to a vast collection of books, periodicals, manuscripts, and other materials related to local history and genealogy.

The library was founded in 1962 by the Chaves County Historical Society, and was named in honor of two local historians, Mary Wilson and Frances Cobb. Today, the library is run by the Roswell Genealogical Society, and is open to the public for research purposes.

The library's collection includes over 10,000 books, including family histories, county histories, and other historical texts. It also features a large collection of microfilm and microfiche, which includes census records, newspapers, and other primary source documents.

In addition to its research materials, the Wilson-Cobb Library also offers workshops and classes on genealogy and local history research, as well as assistance to researchers looking for specific information.

I was looking for different Tiki Gnomes!
Annular Solar Eclipse - Ring of FIre I think these images of the annular eclipse look more like bullseyes. They were the best part of experiencing the not-quite-total eclipse in Roswell.

The 2nd image in the sequence shows 2nd contact (C2) at the beginning of annularity, and the 4th (towards the upper right) shows C3. The elusive Baily's beads effect seen in both is caused by sunlight shining through some parts of the rough lunar terrain (craters, mountains, valleys, etc.), creating a "string of beads" along the lunar limb. This is the first of many upcoming posts from my grand adventure to New Mexico with my best friend, Grace. After I flew to DFW, we drove out west to set up under the pristine dark skies of the Cosmic Campground in Gila National Forest, an international dark sky sanctuary. The next day, we drove back east and stopped at the NRAO VLA (Very Large Array) in central NM. And finally, we set up for the eclipse in the Salt Creek Wilderness just 1.5 miles away from the centerline, giving us a near-perfect ring of fire during totality.
