The Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, NM is a non-profit art museum dedicated to preserving and displaying the art of Taos and Northern New Mexico. Founded in 1923, the museum is located in the historic Harwood Building along Taos Plaza. It houses a permanent collection of over 5,000 objects, including paintings, sculpture, photography, and works on paper. The Harwood also hosts rotating exhibitions featuring the work of contemporary artists and works by the region’s most renowned artists, including Georgia O’Keeffe and Nicolai Fechin.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programming, including lectures, classes, and workshops for adults and children. In addition, the Harwood has an extensive research library with a collection of books, periodicals, photographs, archives, and manuscripts related to the art and culture of Taos and Northern New Mexico.

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge At 650 feet above the river, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the second highest bridge on the U.S. Highway System and the fifth highest bridge in the United States. The bridge is on US 64, about 12 miles west of Taos, New Mexico. When you walk across, be sure and look for the wrecked Jeep Renegade below the northeast side of the bridge. Apparently, someone did a 'Thelma and Louise' into the gorge.
