The Museum of New Mexico Foundation is a nonprofit organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Founded in 1925, the Museum of New Mexico Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the state of New Mexico. The Foundation operates two museums - the Museum of International Folk Art and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture - as well as the Laboratory of Anthropology, which focuses on the study of the anthropology of New Mexico. Additionally, the Foundation also provides support to numerous other museums and cultural institutions in the state.
The Foundation has a mission to provide educational opportunities to the public, as well as to preserve and promote the history, art and culture of New Mexico. To that end, the Foundation's programming includes lectures, tours, workshops, and other educational opportunities. The Foundation also works to expand public access to the state's heritage through public exhibitions, publications, and programs.
The Foundation is supported by donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. The Foundation is also supported by the Museum of New Mexico, which is a state agency. Additionally, the Foundation has endowments from the Institute of American Indian Arts, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the George E. Ohrstrom Jr. Foundation.
