The Center for Afro-Latino Studies in Columbus, New Mexico is a non-profit organization that works to promote and advance the educational, cultural, and economic advancement of African-Americans and Latinos in the Columbus and Doña Ana County area. Founded in 2007, the Center seeks to create opportunities to support the development of the African-American and Latino communities in the local area.
The Center provides educational and cultural activities to raise awareness and educate the community on the history and contributions of African-Americans and Latinos. It also provides resources and assistance to help individuals pursue higher education and professional development. The Center offers scholarships and other financial aid to help students in their pursuit of higher education.
The Center for Afro-Latino Studies also works to increase the economic development of the African-American and Latino communities. By providing educational, cultural, economic, and political opportunities, the Center for Afro-Latino Studies is helping to ensure that African-Americans and Latinos in the area have the resources they need to succeed and grow.
