The Kit Carson Historic Museums in Taos, New Mexico, is a complex of three historic sites that celebrate the life and legacy of the legendary frontiersman Kit Carson. The three sites include the Kit Carson Home and Museum, the Kit Carson Memorial Park, and the Kit Carson Cemetery.

The Kit Carson Home and Museum is the original adobe home of Kit Carson, built in 1825, and is now a museum focusing on his life and accomplishments. The museum features a variety of artifacts from his life, including his rifle, saddle, and other personal items. There is also a gift shop with items related to the life of Kit Carson and New Mexican culture.

The Kit Carson Memorial Park is located near the original home, and includes a full-sized replica of Carson's original home, as well as a replica of an American Indian pueblo. The park also features a variety of interpretive displays and exhibits focusing on the life and times of Kit Carson and the people of Taos.

The Kit Carson Cemetery is the final resting place for Kit Carson and his family, and is located in the center of the complex. The gravesites are surrounded by a variety of monuments and markers commemorating his life, including a granite marker with a bust of Kit Carson.

Rio Grande Gorge Bridge At 650 feet above the river, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the second highest bridge on the U.S. Highway System and the fifth highest bridge in the United States. The bridge is on US 64, about 12 miles west of Taos, New Mexico. When you walk across, be sure and look for the wrecked Jeep Renegade below the northeast side of the bridge. Apparently, someone did a 'Thelma and Louise' into the gorge.
