The Chester Historical Society is located in the historic village of Chester, New Jersey. Established in 1967, the Society is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the local history of the area. The Society is housed in a circa 1820 building, formerly the home of the local blacksmith. The building has been extensively renovated and houses a research library, archives and museum.

The Society’s research library holds a large collection of books, periodicals and artifacts related to the history of Chester and the surrounding areas. It has a special focus on local families, businesses and buildings. The archives contain a wide variety of documents, photographs and maps related to the history of Chester and Morris County, including original deeds, letters and diaries.

The Society’s museum houses a large collection of artifacts related to the history of Chester and the surrounding area. The artifacts date from the 18th century through to the present day, including tools, furniture, photographs and documents. The museum also features a variety of interactive displays, including a replica of an early blacksmith’s shop and a working printing press.

In addition to its permanent displays, the Society also hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year. These include lectures, workshops and educational programs for students, as well as guided tours of the museum and research library. The Society also works with local organizations to promote heritage tourism in the area.
