The Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance (ACPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the historical significance of cemeteries in the state of Alabama. Founded in Monroeville, AL in 2002, the ACPA works to ensure that the history and stories of the people who are buried in Alabama cemeteries are not forgotten.

The ACPA is committed to the preservation of cemeteries through advocacy, education, and service projects. They provide support and resources to local organizations, including cemetery associations, historical societies, museums, and preservation groups in order to help preserve and protect the state’s many cemeteries. The ACPA also assists with cemetery projects such as mapping, conservation, and preservation.

Mostly Obscured Rock City Barn Here's a Rock City Barn that not too many people know about. Of course, most people don't know about it because you can't see it. Not only are there a couple of trees in front of it, but the roof is also one of the lowest angles I've ever seen on an ad barn.

I took this photo seven years ago. I've wanted to post a photo of this barn, but I don't have any good ones. I chose this one because you can at least make out a couple of the letters.

A few other Rock City Barn enthusiasts I've met on Flickr are trying to put together spreadsheets or maps to identify all of the Rock City Barns which still exist, as it seems we lose some every year. I posted this photo now to make sure people know about it. If you want to see it, go before the leaves change and bring a drone. It's on US31 in Conecuh County, AL.

People often ask me how I've found so many of them. I have drawn from many resources such as books and web sites and sometimes luck, but there's not really one &quot;go to&quot; place to find them all. Faded/Obscured (RCB5) Conecuh Co., AL

This is really a weird one. I don't see how it was ever very viewable even in its heyday with that super flat roof.

This was also the most frustrating of this big trip to get. I went to a baseball game called the Rickwood Classic, played in the oldest stadium in the US, and my hope was to get to this barn right at the last light. Well, that didn't work out, so when I got there, it was dark enough that I could barely see the structure of the barn, and wasn't sure if I could get a picture at all.

I also had non-existent service from T-Mobile at this time, and was really wondering what my next step would be. I had planned on being a hundred miles east of here by the end of the night, but that would mean maybe getting a tripod less shot in the dark for a barn that would be really hard for me to ever get to again without a purpose built trip to come see it.

After debating a while, I decided to come back the next morning and get a shot, even if I knew it might not be great. It took forever to get sorted, but I was finally able to get a sliver of service and book a hotel in nearby Evergreen. The next morning I was able to grab this lackluster shot and hit the road, needing to get to the next barn in South Carolina while I still had light, making my original rural route and the opportunity to _maybe_ photograph some ruins of a barn impossible.

I'd like to come back and shoot it in the winter. I really don't know when or if that will ever be. Part of this trip was realizing there are likely barns that I'll never shoot again. Frankly, most of the new to me barns from this trip are ones that I'm unlikely to ever see again. Located far away from where I live now (WA state) and far away from any of my regular touch points back home, by the time I can make another loop and revisit these, there is a good chance the years take them away from us.
