The Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing (CAFSCW) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and traditions of American military aviation. Established in 1994, the CAFSCW is located in Camarillo, California, and is part of the national Commemorative Air Force.
The CAFSCW’s primary mission is to preserve and honor the heritage of military aviation by acquiring, restoring, and flying classic warbirds, or aircraft used in combat during World War II. The organization is composed of volunteers from all walks of life, from pilots and mechanics to administrative personnel and museum support.
The CAFSCW’s aircraft collection includes the B-25 Mitchell Bomber, the P-51 Mustang, the P-38 Lightning, the F4U Corsair, the C-47 Skytrain, the SBD Dauntless, the F4F Wildcat, the F6F Hellcat, the B-17 Flying Fortress, and the Stearman N2S-3. The organization also maintains a hangar, museum, and shop.
Throughout the year, the CAFSCW hosts several events, including air shows and living history events, which enable visitors to experience the sights and sounds of vintage military aircraft. The organization also offers educational programs, such as the Aviation Academy, which provides an interactive curriculum on the history and technology of military aviation.
The CAFSCW is a vital part of the local heritage, and its mission is to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed so much to ensure freedom.
