El Museo Latino, located in Omaha, Nebraska, is the first Latino museum in the Midwest. Founded in 1991 by a group of local Latino artists and activists, the museum was established to celebrate the history, art, and culture of Latinos in the Midwest. El Museo Latino is the only museum of its kind in Nebraska, and its mission is to promote awareness and appreciation of the cultural heritage of the Latino community.
The museum houses a collection of over 5,000 pieces of artwork and artifacts from Latin America, ranging from pre-Columbian to contemporary times. El Museo Latino features a variety of exhibitions, including permanent displays, temporary exhibits, and traveling exhibits. The museum also offers educational programs, workshops, and lectures, as well as a variety of cultural events.
El Museo Latino is a vibrant space for the Latino community to come together and celebrate their culture. The museum is open to the public and entry is free of charge.
