Dowse Homestead is a historic site located in the town of Comstock, Nebraska. The homestead was established in 1874 by William Dowse and his family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The homestead consists of a two-story farmhouse, a barn, a chicken coop, a root cellar, and a well.

The farmhouse is a wooden structure with a gabled roof and a wrap-around porch. The interior of the house has been restored to its original state and includes period furnishings and decor. Visitors can explore the various rooms in the house, including the kitchen, dining room, and bedrooms.

The barn is a large wooden structure that was used to house livestock and farm equipment. The chicken coop is a smaller wooden structure that was used to raise chickens for eggs and meat. The root cellar is a small underground structure that was used to store vegetables and other perishable items.

The well is located outside the farmhouse and is still in use today. Visitors can see the original hand pump that was used to draw water from the well.

Dowse Homestead is a popular attraction for history buffs and those interested in Nebraska's pioneer era. Visitors can learn about the challenges faced by the early settlers in the area and how they overcame them to establish a thriving community.
