This area experienced a burn during early September 2020 but mainly to the north of this site. This south facing ridgeline represents open understory of primarily Douglas fir and secondarily limber pine.

The Gallatin Historical Society is a non-profit organization in Bozeman, Montana, dedicated to preserving and promoting the region's rich history. The Society was founded in 1977 and now boasts a membership of over 600 individuals and businesses.

The Gallatin Historical Society operates the Pioneer Museum, which is located in the heart of downtown Bozeman. The museum features exhibits and artifacts that showcase the history of the Gallatin Valley, including the Native American tribes that lived in the area, the fur trade, mining, ranching, and the development of the town of Bozeman.
