GRANT KOHRS RANCH NATL HSTRC

DEER LODGE, MT

1934? Chrysler Airflow Perhaps the least successful car of the 1930s. Aerodynamic with unitized construction, few buyers were ready for this. The Montana Auto Museum has pretty poor lighting and cars are displayed like in a parking garage. Still, they have some really nice cars.

The Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge, Montana, is a 1,618-acre ranch that chronicles the history of the American West. The site’s centerpiece is the main ranch house, which was first built in 1862 by Conrad Kohrs, a German immigrant. The ranch soon became one of the largest cattle operations in the United States, with cattle grazing on over one million acres in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and Canada. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the ranch also played an important role in the development of the western cattle industry.

In 1966, the ranch and its surrounding lands were purchased by the National Park Service and converted into the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. Today, the site is a living history museum, where visitors can experience life on a 19th century cattle ranch. The main ranch house and several other historic buildings are preserved and open to the public, and visitors can explore the grounds on short nature trails. The site also features a variety of educational programs and events, including guided tours, living history demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
