The Upper Blackfoot Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Lincoln, Montana. Founded in 1994, the society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Upper Blackfoot Valley and the surrounding areas. The society operates a museum and research library, which houses a collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the history of the region.

Youth Forest Monitoring participants, 2023 Program USDA Forest Service Photo Since its start 25 years ago, the Youth Forest Monitoring Program (YFMP) has fostered a sense of curiosity and exploration of the natural world with many students pursuing natural resource degrees and careers including working for the US Forest Service. On the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, this year’s participants of the YFMP presented their findings and recommendations on soils, weeds, watersheds, and archeology to the public and Forest Service managers. Students participate in a six-week program where they train with Forest Service and State mentors to conduct in‐depth forest monitoring and better understand the complexities of forest management. Many thanks to Montana Discovery Foundation for their momentous success with this program.

Landers Trail #438 after 2022 Forest Service and MCC members completed retread, brushing, and drainage work on the trail. Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, Lincoln Ranger District: Over the years, an upper 5-mile stretch of the Landers Fork Trail has become overgrown and was identified as in need of maintenance. Utilizing Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) funding, the Lincoln Ranger District identified and planned the project, and partnered with the Montana Conservation Corps (MCC). Together, the Lincoln Trail Crew and MCC were able to accomplish 3 of the 5 miles of trail work, including retread, brushing, and drainage work. The Forest Service and MCC plan to finish the remaining two miles of the Landers Fork trail in the summer of 2023.
